I love getting surprised with a lovely gift for Mother's Day, but I have a problem where I get attached to my idea of what gift I want, and then if the surprise isn't what I had envisioned, I get disappointed. I've found it helpful to create a list of things I'd want to receive so that I minimize chances of being disappointed.
If you are a garden-loving mom, like me (or you are shopping for one) here is a list of five ideas to draw inspiration from!
1. Arrangement from a local florist
I know some people have problems with the flower industry, but if you go to a local florist, not only are you supporting local business, but you can also ask them to use flowers that are in season if you like. For Valentine's Day this year, I asked my husband for an arrangement from our local florist, and I am never going back to grocery store flowers. He simply gave them a budget ($30) and told them I like "wildflowers" and let them do the rest. The result was a lovely arrangement, perfectly placed in a vase, the lasted 2-3 weeks! It felt so high quality and luxurious compared to grocery store flowers. I also kept the vase, so next time I go back I will ask them to reuse the same one.
2. Gardening tool set with cute tote
This is what I got for Christmas this year, and I'm so excited to use it once the weather warms up. This will be my third year having a garden. My first two years I didn't have any tools except gloves, but often found myself wishing I had some of the tools that came with my set. Plus the bag is so cute, and brings me joy. It would make a wonder Mother's Day gift.

3. Native Wildflower Seeds
I haven't gotten this yet, but it's on my list. I would so love to have a beautiful wildflower patch that will help native pollinators and look pretty at the same time. You can get big mixed seed bags, or research specific native wildflowers you want and order them individually. I recently ordered some Pasque Flowers, which are native to where I live on Etsy. 4. Windowsill Shelf
Full disclosure, I'm probably going to just build one of these for myself, but I also think it would make a lovely mother's day gift. They can be built (if you're somewhat handy) or bought (if you're not). They add a touch of character and charm to any space, and create the perfect spot for a windowsill herb garden. *Bonus points if the shelf is gifted alongside some windowsill plants.

5. GreenStalk
These are on the pricier side, but if you have it in the budget, they are so cool! GreenStalks are vertical planters that allow you to grow all sorts of plants from food to flowers in limited space. I'm all about maximizing garden space. Plus they look so pretty all full of greenery. This is my first year with one, and I'm planning to grow strawberries, lavender, and some lettuce in mine. Alternatively, you could get another type of planter (like a pretty clay one) if this one isn't in the budget.
What are your favorite things to get for Mother's Day? Let me know and maybe I'll add it to next year's list!
